Summary
Whether you are considering the purchase of a drone or already have one, this class will give you a firm foundation in the basics of drone flight. Learn about the history of drone/UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) technology and basic principles of drone aviation. Learn more about FAA laws, regulations, and exemptions that pertain to responsible ownership and operation of drones/UASs. Find out the proper weather conditions and applicable micrometeorology for safe flight of drones. Discover various applications for recreational and commercial use. Best of all, you will get actual flight practice, both with training drones (UAS 4-rotor quadcopters) and a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced Quadcopter drone. Students should bring a notebook and writing utensils, or a laptop or tablet to each class. Students should have internet service to access online articles. Please wear closed-toe shoes.
