Career Exploration: Welding

This course is designed to introduce students to proper safety in the welding workplace environment. Students will learn welding terminology, basic metallurgy, basic welding processes/positions, shop math/blueprint reading and practice on the simulation machine before transitioning to the welding lab. This course will educate the students about various welding jobs in the industry with the expectation of inspiring the next generation of welders. Safety will be discussed throughout the entire course. Long pants, long sleeve shirt, boots/tennis shoes will be worn to class daily. Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and helmet/shield will be provided. All students 13-17 years of age will need to complete/sign a waiver and have a parental consent form signed by a parent/guardian. Seating is limited.
