Discover how to make fresh, scented soaps for yourself or as a gift! Soap-making is a fun activity that you can do in your own kitchen with a few easily-purchased, natural ingredients. It's also a great example of chemistry in action. The ingredients used to make soaps have different properties depending on their chemical makeup, and when mixed and heated, they create unique blends that you can customize to your desired preference. Scent-astic Soaps is a one-day camp where you will learn to use fresh summer fruits, herbs or citrus peels of your choice to make your own molded glycerin soaps. These soaps are great to use yourself, or give as gifts to friends and family! You will also enjoy the opportunity to learn by doing, under the watchful supervision of your knowledgeable instructor. Hands-on learning is a fun and engaging way to learn, and has many benefits for students: it offers practice in problem-solving and critical thinking, it allows the use of all five senses, it builds fine motor skills, it allows students to be creative and it results in a finished-product-inspiring confidence, pride and the inspiration to try other new things.
