Pathway to Employment: Advanced Manufacturing

The course is designed to explore entry-level employment opportunities in the advanced manufacturing sector of the Cape Fear region.  Students will create a targeted resume and cover letter, participate in mock interviews, learn about the types and nature of positions available in the area, meet with program directors and instructors, industry partners and/or leaders, and possibly interview with local employers looking to hire.  The course is designed to provide an entry point into CFCC workforce training programs, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities.

Hybrid: Classes combine in-person and online instruction.

In-class dates: Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & Dec. 2

Online class dates: Dec. 7-11

Tuition Waiver Requirements 

To determine if you qualify for the tuition waiver, please follow the steps below during registration:

1. When prompted with the question “Are you HRD Fee Waiver Eligible?” select YES.

2. You will then be asked to choose one of the following options that applies to you:

   • I am currently unemployed

   • I have received notification of a pending layoff

   • I am working and eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit

   • I am working and earn wages at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines

Selecting one of these options activates the tuition waiver and makes the course free.  If this step is not completed, a $70 fee will be required at the time of registration.

Parental Consent

• A completed Parental Consent and Leon's Law Acknowledgement Form with the registration.

  NOTE: Once the online registration is completed an email with the parental consent form will be sent for completion. 

This form must be turned in by the first day or parents may come in with the student to complete both the registration and parental consent forms before the course starts. 

Important: Only students within the ages of 16 or 17 years old must have a parental consent and Leon's Law acknowledgement form filled out by the first day. Students must register and parents sign the consent form. 

Only the registration is required for students who are over 18 years old.
